Welcome to the Silver Comet Trail sponsored
by the Georgia Rails Into Trails Society, Inc. (GRITS). ![]()
The Silver Comet and The Chief Ladiga Trails join together at
the Alabama/Georgia state line to form a 96 mile path that is a twelve foot wide, five inch thick concrete
trail in Georgia and an eight foot wide asphalt trail in Alabama making it the longest paved trail of its kind
in the United States. This combined trail can be used by walkers, joggers, bikers, hikers, skaters, horses [in some
designated areas] and other non-motorized activities. The trail currently begins at the intersection of the East-West
Connector and South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Georgia and runs to the Georgia/Alabama state line in Polk County where it joins
into the Chief Ladiga Trail, which continues west to Anniston, Alabama. Click here to view the Polk County GRITS calendar. Click here to email the webmaster.
