The Silver Comet and The Chief Ladiga Trails join together at the Alabama/Georgia state line to form a 96 mile path that is a twelve foot wide, five inch thick concrete trail in Georgia and an eight foot wide asphalt  trail in Alabama making it the longest paved trail of its kind in the United States. This combined trail can be used by walkers, joggers, bikers, hikers, skaters, horses [in some designated areas] and other non-motorized activities.  The trail currently begins at the intersection of the East-West Connector and South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Georgia and runs to the Georgia/Alabama state line in Polk County where it joins into the Chief Ladiga Trail, which continues west to Anniston, Alabama.

Since the trail is part of the "Rails to Trails" project, the grade never exceeds 2% in Cobb and Paulding Counties and throughout Alabama, making it relatively easy no matter what type of power you are using. However, when riding in Polk County, Georgia you will encounter some rolling hills with grades of between 5 – 6% between downtown Rockmart and the Martin Trailhead, which covers twenty miles of the thirty mile stretch of trail in Polk County.
