NOTICE

Our next scheduled event is the 2010 LABOR DAY BICYCLE AND ROLLER BLADE RIDE.

B E W A R E
Riders traveling through Polk County, particularly Cedartown, should be aware of a person proporting to be a trail ranger and telling you that they have a bicycle shop and can help you. This person is not in good standing with the trail rangers and has less than an ethical character. Do business with this person at your own risk.

Bike the Metric Century (62.1 mile) Ride - Departing from Cedartown Welcome Center at 9:00 a.m. and bike East on the silver comet Trail to Hutto Road. Turn right and follow the marked route via county and State Roads through several communities in south Central and Western Polk County, GA. Take time to see the arch way at the state line and continue on the Chief Ladiga Trail to Eubanks Welcome Center in Piedmont, AL. This metric century will include winding back roads and variable elevation. The scenery is very pastoral and beautiful. The ride is moderate and should not be attempted unless you are in excellent condition. The last leg of the ride will continue from the state line on The Silver Comet Trail and a short tour on city streets which I am sure you will appreciate. Have a safe trip and coast back to the Cedartown Welcome Center to refuel.

The 47 mile Bicycle and Roller Blade Ride - will depart from the Cedartown Welcome Center at 9:15 a.m. and ride West on the Silver comet Trail to the AL/GA state line through the scenic rolling hills and country side in the western part of Polk County, GA. The ride will continue on the beautiful chief Ladiga Trail to Eubanks Welcome Center in Piedmont, AL and return to the Cedartown Welcome Center via chief Ladiga and the Silver comet Trail to finish. You will travel through several communities along the way, see the beautiful peaks, Pinhoti Hiking Trail and cross over Terrapin Creek at four different locations. The ride is easy to moderate if you are in good condition and have some long distance riding experience.

Ride the comet to Bama & Back (20 miles) - Starting at 9:30 a.m. you will head out from the Cedartown Welcome Center and bike or roller blade to the Alabama State line by way of the Silver Comet Trail. Take a few minutes to enjoy the rest stop and see the arch way at the State line. Let your feet touch the chief Ladiga Trail that extends to the City of Weaver, AL. this ride is perfect for the novice rider or someone who just doesn¿t want to push too hard on Labor Day. There is a slight incline as your travel west, but that just means that it is downhill on the way back!
