                                           MOONLIGHT TRAIL RIDE

Thanks to all of you who participated in our first Moonlight Ride held Saturday night October 17, 2009.

This was our first night ride and we gained a lot of experience from hosting it and we also received a number of suggestions for future night rides.

Tentatively, our next Moonlight Ride is scheduled for October 23, 2010.  Our prognosticator of moon phases has said that this should be a full moon (Hunters Moon) and provide good visibility for night riding.

We are looking for suggestions and ideas to help make this a fun and enjoyable ride and would appreciate hearing from you.

Here are some of our tenative ideas:

(1)  We would like to begin the ride before dusk so that the ride out is during daylight. We're thinking approximately 1/2 hour before dusk.

(2)  The meeting place for riders from both Alabama and Georgia would be Borden Springs.

(3)  We would have a setup there to serve hot dogs, burgers, chips, etc along with both hot and cold drinks.

(4)  We anticipate that we would need to charge a registration fee of $10.00 to cover expenses. (and donations are appreciated)

(5)  GRITS will be selling T-Shirts at the event.

(6)  All participants must be registered and wear a wrist band in order to receive a meal at the Springs.

(7)  All riders must have both a headlight and a tail light and bikes will be inspected at registration.

(8)  The registration form includes a waiver which "MUST" be signed to be elgible to participate in this ride.

All the riders from Georgia will begin the ride at approximately 7:00 PM EST from the Cedartown Welcome Center and proceeded  toward Borden Springs and likewise, the Alabama riders will start at the Eubank Welcome Center at approximately 6:00 PM CST.

We will be contacting the Sheriff's departments to solicit their help in accompaning the riders for this ride.
